On September 18, fans of the classic role-playing adventure series The Bard’s Tale will finally be able to play the next chapter in the story — after a 30-year wait. InXile’s The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep is the first installment in the beloved series since 1988 — not counting the third-person perspective action-adventure game released by InXile in 2004.
The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep takes place in the land of Caith, where players will explore dungeons, solve riddles, and — of course — fight scores of creatures in turn-based combat. The Kickstarter-funded game features more than 40 hours of gameplay.
The initial release of Barrows Deep will be Windows PC only, with the game being available for purchase on Steam, GOG, and Humble. Steam users can pre-order the game now.
There are four editions, so the price varies beginning at $34.99 for the standard edition. GOG and Humble don’t yet have the pre-order option available, but the game can be added to wishlists.
Users of consoles and other computer platforms need not worry, as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Mac, and Linux versions are all in the works.
