New Sim Game Mixes Paleo Pines and Animal Crossing

The latest game from Team17 brings a delightful mix of simulation and dinosaurs.

Team17 has partnered up with indie studio Ambertail Games to publish their debut title Amber Isle. This cute and cozy shop management sim is a mix of Paleo Pines and Animal Crossing. However, instead of befriending and caring for dinosaurs, you get to play as one in a paleo-themed world.

Amber Isle Is the Latest Title From Team17

Amber Isle is the first title ready for market from Ambertail Games, which formed in 2020. Wanting to focus on slice-of-life games that present creatures in a new light, it created Amber Isle. No release date has been revealed yet, but the title will be available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Focusing on shop simulation, Amber Isle includes mechanics like designing your store, procuring items, and haggling for the sale. You’ll be in charge of saving Amber Isle from becoming a ghost town with the power of stable economics. Design the items you’ll sell, obtain the materials, and craft the best goods you possibly can.

Amber Isle also has exploration and friendship interactions with your neighbors, all 48 of them. Different eras of dinosaur activity are present in town, from the beginning of the period right up to the Ice Age. New NPCs will also move in as the town improves, mostly from you investing your hard-earned Ambers into it.

There’s a detailed character creator where you get to choose which type of Paleofolk you want to be and change your color, crest, and clothes. There’s a variety of styles to choose from, ranging from cute to magical to the Wild West. I can already imagine a grumpy T-Rex wearing a sailor uniform as my character.

Information on Amber Isle is slim, but we’ll keep you up to date as new details come to light.
