So Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is a glitchy mess…

The game has been barely out for 24 hours and already people are finding a bunch of glitches in the newest Tony Hawk game...

The video above (brought to you by Eurogamer’s YouTube channel) shows a full 2 minutes of glitch-infested gameplay footage for the newest Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game published by Activision. While this doesn’t come across as much, remember this: the game literally just came out less than 24 hours ago.

The video shows the Eurogamer team playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 on the PS4 – with the launch update installed. After playing the game for 60 minutes they were already able to compile this 2 minute video of physics bugs and gameplay glitches. Once again, that may not seem as much. However, when you have a 1:30 ratio of unpleasant gameplay time that’s a pretty big deal, especially since the Tony Hawk franchise is an arcade-style game.

Kotaku’s Mike Fahey stated in his own article that Robomodo – the developers responsible for the Tony Hawk games such as Ride, Shred, and Skater HD – are staining the Tony Hawk franchise, quote: “If Robomodo, the makers of Ride, Shred and Pro Skater HD is the best studio Activision is willing to assign to such an iconic name it’s time for Tony Hawk to ride out the end of his 13 year contract and skate on to greener pastures.”

Robomodo was responsible for Tony Hawk’s Ride. Remember how not fun that game was with its motion control skateboard?

This comes to no surprise, especially since his article tried to redeem the game – briefly at the end – only to promptly have an update stating that he had been locked out of the game.

I for one was looking forward to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, especially after the soundtrack was released. However, looking at the price for the game on the EB Games website (Canada’s branch of Gamestop) I’m pretty glad I didn’t buy it ahead of the reviews. Why Activision… why must you ruin all the games I love?

$80 for a glitch-fest? No thanks, Activision! (Oh wait… that’s $90.40 after taxes here in Canada… I feel sorry for the pre-orderers…)

What about you guys? Did you pre-order the game? Do you own the game and suffer from severe disappointment? Do you actually find the glitches amusing instead of frustrating? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!
