Assassin’s Creed Mirage is keeping its promise to return to the franchise’s roots. Developed with the three basic principles of the original game, it’s styled with some modern flair. Along with more footage, the latest Assassin’s Creed will be stealthing onto Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, PC, and Amazon Luna on October 12, 2023. Here’s what was revealed at the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase.

Originally announced in 2022, Assassin’s Creed Mirage follows the story of Basim about two decades before Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. In the trailer, we’re back in the desert, stalking human prey through the vendor-lined streets. Here stealth, parkour, and assassinations reign supreme. Hay piles and tower dives had their time to shine, along with various knife jabs, stabs, and slices.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is focused on Baghdad, with the city split into four districts. Rarely will we leave its stone walls, but we can when heading the Hidden One’s headquarters in Alamut. While most of the trailer shows off all the various assassinations you can employ to end your target’s life, it also shows off plenty of parkour. Rooftops and their connected pathways will once again become ingrained in our memories, acting as a second home away from Alamut.

Mirage calls back a time when Assassin’s Creed was a fledgling series. Now, with the new technological advancements combined with these classic principles, we can see how great high diving onto a target is, or how seamlessly Basim can disappear into a haystack.

As the October 12 launch date draws closer, more information about the story is sure to be revealed. Stay tuned for more news and trailers.
