Austin Wintory, the Grammy-nominated composer of the Journey soundtrack, has been picked up to lend his genius to the Kickstarted reprise of 1987’s Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards

Yes, the corny, cheesy, kind of creepy, but still classic Leisure Suit Larry.

Quite a jump from the beautiful Journey, right?

Still, it has been a dream job for the well-rounded composer — a remnant of his gaming hey-day.

Austin Wintory spoke to Polygon before Spike’s Video Game Awards on Friday:

“Al Lowe, the original creator, reached out to me a little while ago. The team that’s remaking it, Replay Games, they had been fans of Journey. It’s actually shocking that they would think to call me because they couldn’t be more opposite of each other.”

Wintory says that although he’s written “sexy music,” it has only been for film — never video games. However, he says that he is comfortable creating “seedy, back alley stuff.”

Good. Good for him. Mr. Wintory, you create the best seedy, back alley stuff you can.

The Kickstarter-funded Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards Reloaded
is now awaiting the green light from Steam Greenlight, and is expected to come out early next year for PC, Mac, and mobile.
