BASIC is a creative agency, whose tagline is “We build brands through system and stories.” They provide branding and creative design for products and company image, particularly in the gaming field. It is rare to find brand marketing companies so streamlined in their focus

As per their site, they intend “to position brands so they matter in culture by creating systems, platforms, campaigns and experiences that resonate with consumers through shared values and interests.” This speaks to me. I can appreciate a level of humanism and connection when it comes to marketing, which can too often be forgotten in the interests of selling and selling hard.

The company has been working with Ubisoft on a number of things like packaging, advertising and trailers, particularly for Assassin’s Creed. However, the company felt that the Ubisoft website could also do with a makeover, and pitched a complete redesign of the Ubisoft website to the company.

Nothing has come of it as yet, and the entire thing is long, involved, and really laggy to scroll through, but the visuals are nice, and the amount of thought and design that goes into designing each and every page is fascinating. You never really think how much effort goes into designing not just a website, but a video game company’s online presence.
