Batman: Arkham Knight Gets Delayed Until 2015

Batman: Arkham Knight delayed until 2015.
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Delays until 2015 are a popular trend in the gaming world right now. Many games that we thought would see the light of day this year got pushed to 2015. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Tom Clancy’s The Division, and The Order: 1886 were all pushed into 2015. Now another game due out this year got pushed into a 2015 release: Batman: Arkham Knight.

We will have to wait to see the Bat

Originally set for a Fall 2014 release, Rocksteady just announced that they have decided to push Arkham Knight into 2015. Revealed earlier this year, the game has built a lot of hype, and was one of the biggest releases this year. Dax Ginn of Rocksteady explained the delay:

“Now Batman: Arkham Knight is totally awesome. The thing about awesome, though, is awesome takes time. And totally awesome takes a lot of time. So in collaboration with our colleagues at Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics, we have decided to extend the development time of Batman: Arkham Knight.”

He continues:

“… the very simple reason for doing this is to ensure we are delivering the awesome level of quality that Batman fans and gamers expect from this, the final episode and the epic conclusion to the Rocksteady Arkham trilogy. The Dark Knight will face his ultimate challenge in Batman: Arkham Knight now to be released in 2015.”

Batman: Arkham Knight is the successor to Arkham Origins, and the sequel to Arkham City. It is the final Arkham game being developed by Rocksteady, completing their Batman trilogy. This game will not only feature a huge open world, but will allow players to control the Batmobile this time around.

Arkham Knight was more than one of the biggest releases of 2014; it is also one of the first major third-party games to ship only on next-generation hardware. It will only  be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (sorry PS3 and Xbox 360).

“Now Batman: Arkham Knight is totally awesome. The thing about awesome, though, is awesome takes time.”

I am upset about the delay of Arkham Knight.

It was one of my most anticipated games of this year. It is also yet another game that I planned to get this year that got delayed (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Division being other games that I wanted). I love the Arkham series (it is one of my favorite series from the last generation of consoles), and I want to see how Rocksteady finishes off their trilogy.

Now that Arkham Knight is delayed, 2015 has a lot of anticipated titles. Along with Batman: Arkham Knight, we will be seeing Halo 5: Guardians, The Division, and The Order: 1886, along with so many more. I guess 2015 is the true year that the next generation of consoles actually starts.
