A german online retailer has possibly revealed information on the newest installment in the Battlefield franchise. Welcome back to World War 1.

Online retailers continue to leak secrets that some game developers would rather keep quiet. Recently, a German retailer has let the cat out of the bag on Battlefield 5. The retailer claims that Battlefield 5 will release on October 26, 2016.

More importantly, the retailer may have revealed the game’s setting. In a post that has since been changed, it read: ‘Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1 Weltkrieg’. Translated to English, the post reads ‘Multiplayer tactical shooter in WWI’. Now, the post just reads ‘Multiplayer Tactical Shooter’.

While these types of posts should be taken with a grain of salt, it does shed some possible light on what we can expect from the next entry in the Battlefield series. Fans will certainly speculate about Battlefield 5 being set during World War I, but until DICE properly reveals more information, all we can do is wait.

The thought of the Battlefield franchise taking on the setting of World War 1 for the first time is rather exciting and could be a really gritty experience for fans of the game. Here is to hoping the post is accurate, because future warfare has nothing on trench warfare.
