Blackmore Kickstarter Kicks Off!

The Kickstarter for Japanese adventure game Blackmore has finally started.

The Kickstarter for Japanese adventure game Blackmore has finally started. Blackmore itself is described as a Japanese adventure game that takes the best of the classic adventure genre, including awesome Japanese art, clever puzzles and great storytelling. The game will be played from an Isometric viewpoint which will provide some immersive environments and backdrops.

The team behind Blackmore are not just some fresh-faced developers with a dream, instead Blackmore has some power housing industry veterans behind it. Jeremy Blaustein (Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill), Satoshi Yoshioka (Snatcher, Policenauts) and Motoaki Furukawa (Gradius, Snatcher) will all be working on the project which has me especially peaked with interest.

Blackmore itself will be set in a steampunk-themed alternate universe of Victorian era London in 1888. You will play as Emma Blackmore a young heroine who, with robot sidekick Descartes, must track down a serial killer that’s terrorizing the people of London. Soon as these things tend to go, you’ll find yourself wrapped in a roller coaster of a plot with all its twists and turns along the way.

The developers themselves are going under their new company iQiOi Co., Ltd. for the Kickstarter campaign. The group is asking for a total of $200,000 to reach their goal. Blaustein himself is putting $50,000 of his own money into the project and firmly believes in the idea. While there are no stretch goals for the campaign as of yet, there are plenty of backer benefits including t-shirts, figures, and the ability to appear in the game as a pedestrian.

The project has already started picking up speed and has raised over $4,000. It’s one I’ll certainly keep my eye on, and you can go have a look for yourself and see if it’s something you’d want to back. Blackmore will be developed first for PC and Mac and is set for a 2015 Spring launch.
