Check Out Claptrap’s Many Skills In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Gearbox Software reveals Claptrap's Action Skill in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

So far we have seen our fair share of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Now, we finally get a peek at the Action Skill of everyone’s favorite, psychotic little robot, Claptrap.

Claptrap’s Action Skill is the VaultHunter.exe. When used, it grants him one of several random abilities for a short time. Andrew Goldfarb from Gearbox Software had this to say on the PlayStation Blog:

“If you’re lucky and Claptrap’s programming is working properly, you might get a brief opportunity to use a version of another Vault Hunter’s skill, like becoming a Gunzerker (In Claptrap’s case, Funzerking!) or a Mechromancer (You’ll love your new fire rate!). If you’re less lucky, you might be stuck bouncing up and down uncontrollably or launching a torrent of grenades that will obliterate friend and foe alike.”

Goldfarb also gave details on Claptrap’s skill trees. Depending on the tree that you choose, Claptrap gains the ability to collect subroutines that can increase his health regeneration, his defense, and his efficiency with different types of guns. He can also learn the world’s saddest high-five skill, which can increase gun damage, fire rate, and health depending on whether or not your teammates leave you hanging. Goldfarb also had this to say:

“To delve any deeper into the terrifying mind of Claptrap right now would be to unleash unspeakable horrors upon you, but just know that there will be plenty of strange surprises for you to discover. And, for those who were worried: yes, you’ll be able to climb stairs when you play as Claptrap.”

When it comes to the Borderlands series, Claptrap is definitely my favorite character. I got excited when I learned I could play as him, and was waiting to hear how he would play. His Action Skill sounds like something that fits him. I am just worried on how often the not-so-useful actions will come up, and whether it will highly affect his gameplay. I guess we will see later this year.
