Could Cyberpunk 2077 be on Nintendo Switch?

Cyberpunk 2077 is poised to be one of 2020’s biggest games — even though it’s been delayed to September. We know it will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but CD Projekt Red also isn’t ruling out Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch.

OnMSFT interviewed CDPR’s John Mamais recently and raised the question of whether there will be a Switch Cyberpunk port. Mamais responded:

Not as far as I know. Not yet. I don’t know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on the Nintendo Switch. It might be too heavy for it. But then, we did put Witcher 3 on it and we thought that would be too heavy too but somehow we pulled it off.

The Witcher 3 performs surprisingly well on the Switch, as we cover in our re-review. However, Mamais told OnMSFT Cyberpunk‘s quest structure is much deeper, designs are more complex, and the open world itself is more complicated — the product of 15 designers rather than The Witcher 3‘s handful.

As Mamais said, though, it probably isn’t impossible. Depending on what Sony does with PlayStation Remote Play in the future, we might even get our hands on Cyberpunk 2077 on the Switch without it actually running on the Switch itself.

Whatever platforms it does or doesn’t come to, Cyberpunk is still one of our most anticipated games of 2020. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Cyberpunk 2077 news as it’s pieced together.
