Ghost Ship Publishing has announced the first spin-off for fans of Deep Rock Galactic, introducing Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor on their YouTube channel on March 1, 2023. Survivor will be a single-player survivor-like auto-shooter with a planned release in early access sometime in 2023.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor will include plenty to explore in the early access launch including:
- 4 playable characters
- Over 30 weapons
- 1-3 bosses
- Over 10 enemy types
- 3-5 biomes to explore
- Multiple mission types
- Perks, artifacts, and upgrades system
Survivor will be a top-down game that features the familiar backdrop of Planet Hoxxes, where you will mine for riches in the deadly caves. You will defend yourself against waves of alien enemies in reverse Bullet Hell PvE combat that will challenge you in a way that is distinct from the original, without losing the procedural generation that keeps things fresh.
The developers at Funday Games expect the early access period to last between 6-12 months, however, this could change depending on the community feedback they receive. The devs want to ensure that the fully developed 1.0 version is just as polished as the original Deep Rock Galactic at launch.
