Trion Worlds is at it again. Once more you can win a chance for your character to join the show, but this time in Season 2. If you read my previous article about the contest for Season 1, you’d know players of this third-person shooter MMO already had the chance for ark hunter stardom on the SyFy show this past May.
This new contest will be running from July 8th to July 30th.
Marking the end of the first season of the show–which was approved for Season 2 despite many negative comments about the game itself–Trion Worlds is offering ark hunters located around the world the chance to “replay” all of the first season’s cross-over events. This may be a good thing if you never got your ass moving for those arkfalls earlier. In order to win, you have to play during the given time period, and be among the top 10 players to obtain the most Major Arkfalls.
Except, that’s really not how you win.
In a twist that has nothing to do with your skill in Defiance, those 10 winners will then be put to a Facebook poll for users to vote. The top 5 of those will be sorted and shuffled around by Kevin Murphy, the lead creator of the show, who picks the ultimate final winner. Although it’s true the final and most important winner is chosen by Murphy, it’s also pretty clear they are most concerned with getting social networking hits off of the contest, more than who actually deserves to win.
Nevertheless, getting your character inserted into a TV show is pretty awesome, Facebook votes or not. The winner will be announced on August 2nd. You can bet your hellbug ass that I will be shooting my way to it, so you might wanna get a move on signing up before you lose your chance.
