Borderlands meets Halo? I can deal with that.

I honestly think Bungie made the right choice cutting free of Halo.

I loved Halo back in the day and still enjoy it from time to time now, but they were only only really known for Halo.  It was time for them to cut free and look for something new if not somewhat familiar to Halo fans.  Destiny is what came knocking at their door and in opening it, they have shown a world I can not wait to explore.

Oddly, my prediction that the game would maintain some type of open world was mostly true.  It seems influenced by Planetside with a precistant world with an open large battlefield while taking influence from Borderlands by having interesting landscapes with plenty to explore and take missions within.

All of this means that most likely everything inside the building, shown in the gameplay trailer is sort of like a quest in Borderlands or in an MMO; you get access to an area that otherwise would be closed off.  The whole fight seemed like an instanced event like in some MMOs like TERA or Star Wars the Old Republic with some delicious loot drop at the end.  This is speculation but seems likely.

Also, the cooperative play also REALLY shown in the demo even though it was sort of corny.   The idea that tons of people can join into one games moment and start battling it out seems tense, hectic and really fun!  The moment that “Public Event” popped and 5 others joined the fight, I kind of had a fit of joy.  I can’t wait to see more about about these public events and if they all will involve just everyone coming to a point and battling it out or if there will be more to it.

Destiny was actually pre-destined in Halo 3 ODST and took some time for people to even realize it.  It is interesting that it took until after the announcement of the game for people to recognize this as being an easter egg because people just did not know what to look for.  I guarantee plenty of people know what they are wanting from the game now and hopefully Bungie can deliver that experience.

Also, were those Speeder Bikes from Star Wars?
