Thanks to the recent waves of beta invites, Dota 2 is reaching new heights in concurrent users. Over 180,000 people were logged in at one time last Saturday, according to SteamGraph.

While this number might seem small in comparison to the game’s lead competitor, League of Legends, it’s important to remember that Dota 2 is currently in beta and requires either a purchase or an invite to play for the time being.

The game is also not available in all regions yet: China, South Korea, Japan, and a few other regions do not have official platforms for Dota 2, though they are on the way.

Considering the original DotA is one of the most played games in China, and with the increased interested in ARTS/MOBA-style games in Asia in general, the playerbase is likely to grow exponentially once officially released in the East. You can count on the playerbase seeing a ton of growth once it leaves beta as well.

As it stands, the only place for Dota 2 to go is up.
