Earlier this year, Bioware showed a Gameplay Demo for the highly anticipated Dragon Age: Inquisition to those lucky enough to attend E3.  Today, Bioware released “Demo Part 1: Hinterlands” to the rest of the world. The 16 minute video, narrated by Dragon Age‘s Creative Director Mike Laidlaw, presents some exciting elements.

Viewers embark on a journey through the eyes of the “fan favorite” Inquisitor, a female Qunari mage, as she travels the land fighting various battles. The Inquisitor first heads to Redcliffe, a familiar place to those who played Dragon Age: OriginsOnce the Inquisitor resolves the conflict in Redcliffe, Laidlaw takes her to fight a more challenging foe: a dragon.

For many viewers, the dragon fight is undoubtedly the most interesting part of the video. Dragons are present in the other Dragon Age games, but in Inquisition there will be some differences to how players fight them. Here is what Laidlaw says:

“[Bioware has] changed the way you target [dragons], indivdually atacking their limbs and their tails, in order to bring them down.”

Viewers also get to hear some of the new companions, The Iron Bull and Sera, for the first time. The characters interact with each other, and their exchange is quite humorous, especially The Iron Bull’s strong interest in “mayhem.”

Additionally, Laidlaw discusses Tactical View and the Inquisitor’s influence on the world, and gave viewers a chance to see the Inquisitor riding a mount.

The game’s release date is October 7th. It will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4.
