What am I talking about?

Edward Kramer is one of the original founders of Dragon*Con and a popular science fiction and fantasy writer and editor. Oh, and he’s also an all-around creep.

For more than a decade Kramer has been successfully eluding standing trial on charges of child molestation… like, a ton of charges, by claiming that he has not been healthy enough to stand trial.

Once this surfaced, the public was not too pleased. Numerous guests, including actors, authors, etc., and members of the con started boycotting the beloved convention. The sad part was that Kramer hadn’t been apart of Dragon*Con for years. Twelve years to be exact…since he was arrested in 2000. He has had no say in the company but was allowing it to take the fall for his…pleasures – shivers in disgust.

Dragon*Con announced today, July 8, Kramer’s shares have been bought out. The con is now officially Dragon*Con, Inc. They are officially free of the Kramer name and the old Dragon*Con, which will hopefully ease some of the tension between the Con and their followers.

This decision only affects the ownership of the old Dragon Con,” said Pat Henry, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dragon Con. “Our members and others who attend Dragon*Con 2013 will experience the same fantastic convention they have come to expect from us.”

This decision to finally cut ties with Kramer after 12 years was definitely the work of the boycotters. Horror author Nancy A. Collins and former Swamp Thing writer Stephen Bissette took steps to alert other creators and writers of Dragon*Con’s affiliation with the suspected pedophile.

Now that the con has broken all ties with Kramer we will hopefully see an increase in guests who were apart of the boycott. We can now all live in Dragon*Con harmony.
