The third game in the Dungeon Defenders series, Awakened will have almost everything that will be available in the full release. Players will be able to jump into 12 different maps and choose between four heroes, and they will be able to get in on the multiplayer action right away.

Did I mention there’s local co-op? Oh heck yeah, there’s going to be local co-op.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened‘s Early Access phase is meant to collect feedback from the community and further polish the game up to a release later this year, which will be simultaneous with its Nintendo Switch launch.

Don’t let the announcement of only four playable characters get you down. Developers Chromatic Games promise more characters will be heading to Awakened after launch.

Have you played a Dungeon Defenders game before? The hybrid tower defense and third-person action RPG series is easy to overlook, but if you’ve got a group of friends or family who have a taste for randomized loot and slaying hordes of enemies tower defense-style, you couldn’t do much better.
