Why make a fantasy golf MMO at all?

There are lots of good questions to ask about Dungeons & Golf World, and the team behind the game is ready to answer them. In honor of the new app store release making Dungeons & Golf World available on both Android and iOS platforms, I sat down for an exclusive interview with AppBankGames and Gala Lab.

Why We Combined Golf and MMO Together

“I have always wanted to make a fancy mobile game” Yoshiyuki Miyagawa, lead programmer of Final Fantasy XI

“Sports don’t need to be just ‘sports’ in the game world.” said the director Mr. Yoshiyuki Miyagawa, who was the lead programmer of Final Fantasy XI and now is the CEO of AppBankGAMES that develops Dungeons & Golf World.

“I have always wanted to make a fancy mobile game. Golf is a great element to be developed into a game, but it doesn’t need to be ‘the golf’ when it comes to the game world, does it? So we combined the golf and MMO together in Dungeons & Golf World. It was not easy at all, but it worked well eventually!”

Playing Just ‘Sports’ Is Not Enough

As a longtime developer and publisher of many MMO games, Gala Lab worked hand in hand with AppBankGAMES to help the game go out into the world.

“Playing just sports is not enough these days” said Hyunsu Kim, the CEO of Gala Lab.

“We know that playing ‘my’ game is the most excited part to the users. This is the reason why you should differentiate Dungeons & Golf World from other sports games. Dungeons & Golf World has 2-way leveling system – one is your own level and the other is your characters’. And your character changes its color and ability as its level goes up.”

Free-To-Play Done Right: “We Should Not Disturb Users’ Loving the Game”

Many people mistakenly think that Dungeons & Golf World is pay-to-play, but actually it is free-to-play. Of course, it has in-game store, but still you can get various items and characters for free in many ways.

“Free-to-play is the motto of Mobblo” said Hyunsu Kim.

Basically there is no barrier to play the game for free. We should not disturb users loving the game. This is what we have learned from our long-time experience with MMO games.”

Dungeons & Golf World can be downloaded from:

Gala Lab Corporation’s new mobile service brand, Mobblo announces today the release of Dungeons & Golf World for Android. The version for iOS has been already released in Apple app store in December 2013.

Dungeons & Golf World is a popular fantasy sports golf game which allows users to compete with players from all over the world. Its Japanese version was released in Japan in December 2012 by AppBankGAMES, and recorded more than 30,000 downloads with many favorable reviews.
