EA Warns of PS4 Instability, Takes It Back

EA posted a notice warning gamers about Sony's PS4 patch causing instability, then almost immediately took the notice back down, claiming it was accidentally posted.

As one would probably expect in a modern console, Sony’s PlayStation 4 had a day one patch for its firmware.  What one might not have expected is for EA to announce on their support website that the patch causes “stability issues” for any games played after installing it.  At least not when it apparently isn’t true, as the announcement was removed shortly after being posted.

What is true is a number of PS4 consoles are having serious hardware issues.  Sony has officially estimated the number of effected consoles at less than half of a percent.  The day-one patch EA’s support post addressed adds a huge number of the console’s features, including Blu-Ray/DVD playing, online multiplayer, and others.

EA has stated the warning about the Sony patch was “posted in error”.  We are still waiting to hear exactly how big of a goof this was.  As of writing, Sony has not responded to the original posting.
