Elder Scrolls Online Will Have Customizable Mounts

Elder Scrolls Online's Paul Sage discusses how Mounts and Fishing work, and why the game has been delayed.

Things are still trickling out of the wake of E3, even though its been over a month. Elder Scrolls Online Creative Director Paul Sage talks about why the game has been delayed, Mounts, and even Fishing. Did everybody love horses in Oblivion and Skyrim? Well, they’re back in a whole new way.

First, Paul Sage tells us that mounts in ESO are going to be much more than a graphical means of letting players move faster from point A to B. Horses can be used as a literal beast of burden. Depending on how you raise them, you can alter how much inventory they can carry, how fast they can run, and what they look like at higher levels. Paul says you start off with a basic mount and level it up and shape its abilities to whatever direction you choose.

To a certain extent, you will be able to name and customize your horse.

But for now, Paul hints that mounted combat isn’t in the game,”yet”. Now mounted combat would be a whole other level of high for gaming.

Fishing, another interesting new feature, seems more like it’s just for relaxing and social interaction within the game. You can, however, use different baits to catch different fish depending on your location.

Finally, Paul tells us why ESO was delayed, saying that they want to make sure the game is as good as it can be before they ship it out.

Elder Scrolls Online will be released in 2014 for the Xbox One, PS4 and the PC.
