Razor Edge Games has announced that its upcoming game Epocylipse The AfterFall has been renamed to Eden Falling, with the developers reasoning that the title alteration reflects the changing market.

Mike Weiser, the CEO of Razor Edge Games, had the following to say about the name change:

“I created the original name in 2006. Stepping back and taking a look at the name and how it held up eleven years later is remarkable, but, Eden Falling is now better suited for today’s marketplace.”

Mr. Weiser also said that the new title better reflects the core game, saying that Eden Falling has changed drastically since it was first named Epocylipse The AfterFall:

“Considering the expanded scope & features we have added to the game, all the new content that has been implemented, including a vast expansion of the lore and the game world, Eden Falling fits perfectly.”

Eden Falling is set in a post-apocalyptic world where, after Earth is hit by meteors, an infection begins to decimate mankind — leaving humanity on the brink of extinction. According to Arthur Tomlinson, the Creative Director behind the game, more features and information about the game are set to be unveiled in the coming weeks:

“To give a few spoilers, we will be unveiling more on Eden Falling’s immersive, procedurally generated living world; from the vast size, to spontaneous terraforming events that alter your experience as you play, Eden Falling will be unique and organic every play through. We will be actively releasing new in game footage as well, including highly anticipated character creation and combat.”

The game has been in development on-and-off since 2006, with Razor Edge Games constantly working and re-working the game over the years. In spite of the name change to suit the current market, the game doesn’t have a definitive release date.
