According to the deal that was made, CCP Games will continue to develop games independently at their studios based in Reykjavik, London, and Shanghai, while at the same time integrating their work into Pearl Abyss’ overarching operations from this point forward.

Pearl Abyss CEO, Robin Jung, said in a statement that the company was very excited to have the CCP team integrate with theirs, bringing more than a decade of development experience to the table.

We are thrilled to have CCP Games join our team as Black Desert Online continues to branch out globally. CCP is a seasoned publisher with over 15 years of digital distribution experience and know-how. They have done an incredible job of engaging and maintaining their playerbase, which we aim to learn from and hope to integrate natively into Pearl Abyss’ general practices across all our games.

Jung added that she is confident CCP will be able to help “reaffirm our company’s dedication to developing and servicing the world’s best MMORPGs.”

Of the partnership, CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Petursson said, “I have been seriously impressed with what Pearl Abyss has achieved ever since I first visited their website for Black Desert Online and subsequently became an avid player of the game.”

Four years after launching its open-world MMORPG Black Desert Online in Korea, Pearl Abyss experienced record-high sales during the first six months of 2018, a sure sign that BDO is still incredibly popular among gamers and fans of the MMORPG genre.

With EVE Online and the upcoming world-wide launch of Black Desert Mobile, fans of Pearl Abyss games certainly have a lot to be excited about throughout 2019 and beyond.
