Fable Trailer with Richard Ayoade Shown at Summer Game Fest

The latest trailer for the next entry in the Fable series dropped during the Xbox Games Showcase.

The newest Fable trailer opened the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 with a giant smash. Featuring the talent of Richard Ayoade, the trailer pulls you in. With the announcement that Fable will be available day 1 on Xbox Games Pass, here’s what we’ve learned during Summer Game Fest 2023.

The Fable trailer opens with Richard Ayoade as a vegetable enthusiast denouncing heroes. He sits surrounded by produce as the hero rubs elbows with the commonfolk, brandishes her sword, and sets off on adventures. The trailer is riveting, but it offers no gameplay or actual in game footage. The only hint that this’ a Fable game is the logo appearing at the end of the trailer. Honestly, I thought it was a Jack and Beanstalk inspired game at first.

Since this is an entry in the established Fable series, there are a few things we can count on the game to bring. Action, decision driven consequences and world building, these are a couple things that Fable is known for. Even so, having a glimpse at some in game footage would have the trailer leave a stronger impression. Right now, instead of the highlight being Fable, it’s giant Richard Ayoade.

There’s still no confirmed release date for Fable. It’ll be available day one on Games Pass, but we have no idea when that’ll be. A general release window wasn’t even included. The trailer, though a riveting piece of video, didn’t shed light on anything new for fans of the series. Stay tuned, however, as more news is sure to be released in the coming months.
