During yesterday’s Square Enix Presents at E3, Yoshi P. goes into detail concerning the addition of Scholar to the Job(s) tree for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. I found it quite rewarding finding out the not only are two new jobs being introduced to the game, but also one class ends up branching off into two different jobs (Arcanist > Summoner + Scholar).

Arcanist, Summoner, Scholar

Yoshida explains how each class has their own unique skill sets but also share a particular set of skills among all three classes. Arcanist being the primary non-advanced class can indeed animate a familiar or pet element (Carbuncle), and is also a semi healer spellcaster with its own special traits. Summoner being the first confirmed branch job from the Arcanist tree is more of a heavy damage dealing spellcaster also able to summon spirit like effigies called Egi, the Egi are avatars in the Primal gods image. Scholar confirmed as the second branch job from the Arcanist tree focuses more on healing than it sister class, they will also have the ability to summon a sprite spirit that will have an its AI separate from the Scholar’s along with a command list for the player to utilize.

Branch System

What this means for Final Fantasy XIV players is that you can expect classes to branch off becoming more than one specific advance job. Being that the class part of the tree is the root class, we can expect to see similar visuals and ability types that include both similar aesthetics and skill trees for the branch jobs. Expect to see a lot of speculated and desired jobs to be future additions to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
