Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remastered Combat Comparison

Experience the stark difference between the old and HD Final Fantasy X/X-2.

The lovely folks at Gamescom revealed what battles will be like in the new Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster coming this October. The first half of the video is the older version, while the latter half features a distinct makeover brimming with updated and eye-catching features.

The remake boasts newly designed gauges, damage indicators, fonts, and Overdrive initiations. For example, Auron’s Overdrive input shows refurbished, spaced out PS buttons.  Another distinct difference is the damage cap. Your max damage will no longer stop at 9,999 but extend past that into super “overkill” zones. It seems the tiny details sew together to better the whole.

The outlines of creatures and characters’ faces are smooth and detailed. The menus and Overdrive bars are crisp and clean, standing out slightly from the chaos. The same goes for the new numbers popping up every time you deal damage.

There are more revamped details to discover in this HD remake that you can discover–and appreciate–for yourself.
