First GTA 6 Trailer Released Shows Off a Modern Vice City

It's been a long time coming, but we finally have the first GTA 6 trailer.

All the years of rumors about Grand Theft Auto 6 and all the buzz throughout the game’s community over the past few months have finally culminated with the official release of the first GTA 6 trailer. Clocking at a short minute and 30 seconds long, it’s not a trailer to be missed.

Labeled “Grant Theft Auto VI Trailer 1,” the preview from Rockstar into the upcoming release gives us a vivid look at Vice City as it would be today, with more than just a few staples of modern American (and distinctly Floridian) living. And to be paired with it are the game’s two new protagonists, a Bonnie and Clyde-type pair, it seems.

The whole thing is packed with personality and gives more of a look at Vice City than Lucia and her partner in crime (as it should). Every entry to the Grand Theft Auto series has had just as vivid of a city as the storyline characters themselves.

Much of the trailer is presented in footage that looks like it’s been recorded by phone, bodycam, CCTV, or uploaded to TikTok. It’s possible this could allude to some features including video recording or maybe even uploads. It could also just be to make the trailer seem more true-to-life, but we’ll have to wait for more news from Rockstar themselves.

When is the GTA 6 Release Date?

Grand Theft Auto 6 is still a ways off, but with today’s trailer, we have some sort of timeline. GTA 6 will have a 2025 release date, though the specifics are still unknown. It might be a long while until we get another trailer from Rockstar, but at least we can count on the game coming out sometime within the next two years.

It’s been 13 years since Grand Theft Auto 5 was released. It’s been so long it almost seemed like the sixth entry to the series was never coming. But it is, and it’s a mere two years away. If Rockstar’s track record and the quality of animations and graphics in the trailer are to be believed (which they are), it’s going to be worth the wait to see Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2025.
