Although April 1, 2024, was an unfortunate time to announce this, the indie devs for the Friday the 13th reboot confirmed that they would be setting a release date for the game on April 15, 2024. Fans immediately expected this to be an April Fools’ joke, but the devs quickly confirmed it to be “all true.”

This fan-made reboot has been in the works for a while, and the devs state that it aims to “deliver the full F13 experience fans never got to see…” As a modded build of the game, it will feature all the usual mechanics but with some fun twists, new animations, and weapons. They’ve teased plenty of unique unlockable skins for Jason and the survivors, as well as all the features that fans have been wanting.

From what the developers have shown us so far, we can expect the game to be available on multiple platforms and have a multiplayer online mode like before. It has yet to be confirmed whether it will have cross-play, but the devs will likely give us more details as the official release announcement comes around.

It’s hard to say just how long this reboot will last, seeing as it pulls a lot of content and mechanics from the original game. They could get in trouble for reusing the material and have the game shut down before it can officially get on its feet, but time will tell. For now, we can get excited to try out this fresh take on the experience.

We don’t know much more quite yet, but if you’re a fan of horror games, you’ll want to stay tuned for more details. The release date will hopefully be sometime soon after the announcement on April 15, and knowing the fan base, on a Friday the 13th if possible, so prepare to slash!
