After many hours of speedrunning the milestone was reached on 10th Jan, marked by an official tweet from GDQ thanking all donors for their generosity:

The amount raised is slightly down on last year’s total of $1.57 million but organisers were quick to point out that $200,000 of said total was accumulated by ‘Humble Bundle’ sales in 2015.

The week-long event ran from 3rd-10th January covering a huge number of video games both old and new. Highlights included: the Super Mario 64 co-op race, the Coda run in Crypt of the Necrodancer and an incredible two-player, one controller world record in Super Metroid (shown below).

This year’s event was a huge success but there is more to come with the announcement of Summer Games Done Quick 2016 (#SGDQ2016) which will run from 3rd-9th July.

Did you manage to catch much of the event? What was your favourite speedrun? Answer in the comments below.
