Halo gets another piece to the franchise with Spartan Strike. While it is similar in design to the previous top-down shooter, Spartan Assault, it fits in the storyline during the events of Halo 2 and pits you as a Spartan IV leading UNSC Marines against Covenant and Promethean enemies on New Mombasa in 2552.

The game introduces new weapons to the Halo universe with the Suppressor, Binary Rifle, and Inceneration Cannon. Armor gets new abilities such as teleportation and proximity mines. The all-new Kestrel VTOL will join the Warthog in the Halo cast of vehicles. Details haven’t been given on these items yet, but they sound awesome.

The game is releasing for $6 on Steam, Windows, and Windows Phone stores on December 12. If purchased on a Windows platform, it will be available to users across all of their Windows powered devices. Spartan Strike is single-player campaign only with 30 missions across city, jungle, and other varied landscapes.

Spartan Strike will also give players an opportunity to earn an emblem, avatar, and nameplate for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Unlike its predecessor, it has removed microtransactions.
