Gearbox Software announced February 25th as the release date for Homeworld Remastered Collection, along with multiplayer beta access.

It looks like Gearbox Software is looking to lift the curtain on the resurrected Homeworld franchise. Recently announced at PAX South, you can expect to get your hands on it starting February 25th on PC. As of now you can pre-purchase the game, currently on sale on Steam for $29.74. This will go up to $34.99 once the game is fully available.

The Homeworld Remastered Collection comes with a plethora of classic Homeworld games. Inside the package, you will get Homeworld and Homeworld 2 Remastered Editions, both games in their classic form, and access to Homeworld Remastered Steam Multiplayer Beta.

It will be interesting to see how Homeworld turns out. It’s a 3D space RTS game, though as many know Gearbox as the developers of the first-person shooter series, Borderlands.

However, I have one question now that Gearbox owns and is releasing the Homeworld franchise. What happened to Homeworld: Cataclysm? Originally designed as an expansion, it had enough changes and content to be its own game, which I found an excellent addition to  the Homeworld series. Hopefully they haven’t forgetten about it and will bring that installment back sometime in the future.
