During an interview with IGN, Creative Director of NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, talked about Injustice 2. Rather than explain about the game’s current roster and who would be on it, he discussed how he wants to expand the roster by making it bigger through DLC.

“One of the things we’ve been doing, trying to do more and more with every game… is to support it for a longer period of time,” Boon told IGN. “With DLC characters, we’ve had four with Mortal Kombat, six with Injustice, eight with Mortal Kombat X, and with Injustice 2 we plan on continuing that pattern,” he added, noting “it will certainly be more aggressive than we’ve been in the past.”

Currently, the game is set to have a few returning characters from the previous game, such as Superman, Flash, Batman, and Aquaman. New characters revealed in a gameplay trailer were Supergirl, the Red Lantern Atrocitus, and Gorilla Grodd.

There is also a new armor mechanic set to not only make characters stronger and change appearance, but even give new moves as well. Ed Boon stated how “…the purpose of this feature is customization, longevity and ongoing molding of your character so to speak.”

Injustice 2 is currently in development by NetherRealm Studios, and set for release in 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
