Injustice Narrative Teased in New Trailer

The new trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us shows a hint of the narrative, and it looks awesome.

As both a fan of comics of all forms and a player of Mortal Kombat 9, it is not a surprise that I am looking forward to the release of Injustice: Gods Among Us.  The game’s latest trailer has greatly heightened that anticipation.  Now I’m not just looking forward to a good fighting game starring some of the most iconic characters in modern fiction, I’m also looking forward to a potentially very intriguing story along with it.

The plot thickens…

You know you’re in for a wild ride when the Joker starts the story by threatening to kill millions with a bomb.  It’s also a warning sign when a plot of the Joker’s, even a small one, actually succeeds.  When you combine them both, you’re getting into apocalypse-scale bad territory, and this is how the story in Injustice starts.

With Metropolis blown up, it looks like the Justice League is having a major crisis of faith, doubting that humanity can rule itself, implying that they’re looking to take over for what I imagine they consider ‘the greater good’.

The story is set to follow a linear route through the different characters, much like Mortal Kombat’s did, starting with Batman.  Where it goes, we can only speculate at this point, but I’m looking forward to the release to find out.  Injustice: Gods Among Us as a title takes on a whole new chilling meaning after hearing Wonder Woman say, “Man’s world is incapable of self-rule.  We will preserve order.”
