Wasteland 3 has been delayed yet again, this time due to complications surrounding the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. According to inXile, the game’s development team has been (rightly) working from home out of an abundance of safety. However, that has pushed the game’s release date closer to the end of summer.

Wasteland 3 is now scheduled to launch for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 28.

Brian Fargo, Studio Head inXile entertainment, shared the update via Wasteland 3‘s official Twitter account, as well as Fig, on March 31. Fargo referenced “logistical hurdles” as the reason for the delay, and that the team would take the time to implement player feedback from the recent backer beta.

“That’s time we’re putting into acting on Beta feedback and suggestions, optimization, polishing and refinements, and making sure we have an awesome co-op experience,” Fargo said.

As with other delays and cancellations, Wasteland 3’s delay is certainly a shame backer and fans will have to wait longer to play the final product, but it’s ultimately worthwhile for the health and safety of everyone making the game.

In the meantime, be sure to check out our impressions of the upcoming post-apocalyptic RPG. We recently went hands-on with Wasteland 3, calling it “even bigger and better than its predecessor, with expanded combat options and plenty of dark humor.”
