Jin Punishes His Dad For Grounding Him In New Tekken 8 Trailer

Tekken 8's latest trailer shows a returning Jin Kazama with some solid offensive capabilities.

Jin Kazama has had a rough life. Being the illegitimate son of Tekken series antagonist Kazuya Mishima, Jin has suffered from paranoia, delusions, abuse, and even the dreaded Devil Gene. He won’t take it lying down anymore, as evidenced by the newest trailer for Tekken 8.

Apart from some new threads, there isn’t a whole lot that has changed about Jin from past Tekken games. We aren’t getting a complete breakdown of his move set here, but it’s very similar to what was featured in Tekken 7. He incorporates movements from both the Mishima and Kazama schools, creating a deadly combination of both of his lineages.

The most noticeable difference here is that Jin seems to have a forward-moving jump-kick attack. It doesn’t look like a running attack, but some command input. Jin also appears to be rocking a new counter option, but maybe I’m just not versed enough in his current repertoire. While I am familiar with Tekken and even pretty decent at the game, I’m not at a high enough level to truly understand all of the nuances here.

Tekken 8 is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While no release date has been announced, it looks set for a 2024 launch on all platforms. While rollback netcode hasn’t been confirmed, it should make the cut considering most fighting games are adopting it now.
