While the review scores weren’t off the charts, it was the title that defined the PlayStation 4 launch.

Now, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has announced that global sales of the PS4 exclusive, Killzone: Shadow Fall, have exceeded 2.1 million units as of January 15, 2014. The latest installment in the award-winning franchise, the game boasts incredible visuals and a well-constructed multiplayer mode.

Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida said:

“I am thrilled that so many users have been enjoying KILLZONE SHADOW FALL since the launch of PS4. This title fully embraces the creativity of the development team at Guerrilla Games based in the Netherlands, and is a great representation of what SCE WWS has to offer. SCE will continue to deliver exciting software titles, and is currently developing more than 30 titles including DRIVECLUB™inFAMOUS Second Son™ and The Order: 1886™, which offer entertainment experiences only possible on PS4.”

Reportedly, Guerrilla is currently working on several new projects for Sony’s new console, although they haven’t divulged any concrete details. As for Shadow Fall, it’s nice to see the game do well, especially after receiving harsh criticism.

It wasn’t “next-gen” but it was still a great shooter

I’d hesitate to say this title defined the term “next-gen” in my eyes, but too many people were prisoners of extremely lofty expectations. True, the game didn’t really do anything new and I wasn’t impressed with the story at all, but as far as FPSs go, it was pretty darn good.
