Layers of Fear Debuts a Final Spooky Trailer at Summer Game Fest

A new cinematic trailer just dropped for Layers of Fear, less than a week before it launches.

The Summer Game Fest Summer Showcase was filled to the brim with a lot of trailers, but one of the scariest of note was for Layers of Fear. The joint project between Bloober Team and Anshar Studios showed off a three-minute cinematic trailer centering around a new character called The Writer.

Given that The Writer’s ordeal is meant to serve as the final chapter in the series that will tie everything together, fans will likely want to comb over every moment in the trailer to catch any hints as to how that will work. We see that it takes place in a lighthouse, which is naturally perfect for scary occurrences such as birds smashing into a window.

The upcoming Layers of Fear is meant to serve as the ultimate way to experience the identically-titled series. It features the original content and DLC of the first two entries, rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5. New mechanics and the new Lighthouse chapter are also added to interwove it all into one experience.

If you happened to miss the demo walkthrough that went up a few months ago, it’s well worth a watch for anyone curious. The updated visuals and new Lantern item make for a delightfully creepier atmosphere than the original titles.

Layers of Fear is launching in less than a week on June 15th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The standard edition will cost $29.99 while the deluxe edition will go for $34.99. Those who own either of the previous games will also be given a 30% discount for either edition, limited to the first two weeks.
