WWE 2K16 Commentary leaks and hints a new Stone Cold Steve Austin mode!

It’s that time of year again when we start getting news about the next WWE game. Usually, we get roster leaks or some motion-capture tweets but this year the commentary has leaked.

The video was uploaded to YouTube which showed Jerry “The King” Lawler and Jim Ross recording lines for a new mode in WWE 2k16 a mode based on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s illustrious career it seems. Check out the video below.

Ross and Lawler frequently lend their voices to the games for the very popular historic modes. It began with WWE 13, in which fans could relive the greatest time period in wrestling via the Attitude Era mode. Then the series moved from THQ to 2K and that publishers first game, WWE 2K14, featured a similar mode with “The 30 Years of WrestleMania.”

The first next-gen WWE game came last year with 2K15, which was deemed a disappointment to best. While the graphics got a nice overhaul (for select superstars) the “Career Mode” was incredibly empty and repetitive. Especially considering a similar career mode had been achieved in the PS2 Smackdown games. As well as that mode there was a new “2K Showcase” mode, which allowed you to play out a few classic rivalries.

The Classic Duo Reunite for 2K16

Seeing as how popular these historic modes are with fans, it was inevitable 2K16 would go back to that well. However, it’s nice to see them really focus in on the career of a single superstar, the most popular of all-time, rather than attempt to tell an entire era in a few hours.

The only problem with a Stone Cold mode is the fact that we’ve all played most of the iconic Rattlesnake moments, from reversing that Sweet Chin Music into a Stunner and winning the WWE Championship, to beating The Rock at WrestleMania, and everything in between. Hopefully 2K manages to make this mode feel fresh and exciting.

WWEK 2K16 is set to release on October 27th, as is customary, so expect lots of news to release about the game in the coming weeks and months. What do you think of a potential Stone Cold mode? IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK! Only kidding, let us know exactly what you think in the comments below!
