Lords of the Fallen Reveals Gameplay Trailer at Summer Game Fest

The successor to 2014's Lords of the Fallen reveals dual world mechanics and new bosses.

Lords of the Fallen premiered a new, in-depth gameplay trailer at Future Games Show 2023. Showing off new bosses and the dual worlds of the game, the trailer is over three minutes of footage narrated by developer Hexworks. Releasing October 13 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Lords of the Fallen is the hopeful franchise reboot. Here’s what we’ve learned during the Future Games Show 2023.

The trailer starts off with a look at how the dual worlds of Lords of the Fallen work. The land of the living, Axium, is where the game starts. When you die, however, you end up in the land of the dead, known as Umbral. You need to fight your way back to the land of the living and the longer you stay the more enemies will be attracted to your presence. You’ll need to move between both worlds.

Not only do we get a look at the worlds of Lords of the Fallen, we also get introduced to three brand-new bosses. A behemoth of a creature with a demonic presence and an extra appendage coming from its mouth stands watch over the ever-burning city. Master of Castigations, Tancred, fights for the Sentinels though his twin will sometimes take over. Last, but certainly not least, is Harrower Dervla, who left her faith behind and now follows a dark path. Those are only some of the bosses in Lords of the Fallen, with even more waiting to maim you.

Another trailer, albeit a shorter one, premiered at the PC Gaming Show. While the narration during the show isn’t in the trailer, the differences between the two worlds were highlighted. Not only that, but the fact that Lords of the Fallen is developed in Unreal Engine 5 brings these gruesome baddies into focus with all their glorious details. Showing off the smooth combat of the game, as well as the Umbral Lantern, this trailer is perfect for those with only a snippet of free time.

Pre-orders are open with a bonus of exclusive armor tincts and in-game currency. Stay tuned for more news as we get closer to release.
