Magic: Legends Gameplay Looks a Lot Like Diablo

Magic: Legends gameplay has been shown off for the first time. The MMO looks an awful lot like Diablo, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Well, we’ve finally seen some footage of the Magic: The Gathering MMORPG, Magic: Legends. The newest gameplay trailer was revealed over at Game Informer, and while you might have had ideas about what it could end up being, it probably wasn’t Diablo

Magic: Legends was initially announced last month at The Game Awards, and the reveal had a lot of fans pretty excited. There will probably be a mixed reaction to the newest gameplay, though, as it looks less MMO and more general co-op game. But hey: at least we’re getting a new MtG game.

It looks like the different colors of Magic are being pushed into five different classes. It will be interesting to see whether or not they can represent things like countermagic, or ramp spells in this style of game, but we’ll probably see more when the beta kicks off. You can sign up for the beta here

Diablo isn’t a bad formula to copy either way. Diablo 3 has been around for nearly 300 years and is still a good laugh if you decide to drop into it with some friends. It also never ends, and people seem to like that in a game nowadays. So endless Magic also sounds like a good time.

If you’re trying to do a bit more research on the game itself, why not have a look at some of the weirdest Magic: The Gathering cards, or even take a look at an old wishlist for this style of game.
