Square Enix’s spiritual successor to the ’90s arcade game Tokyo Wars has received a new gameplay mode.

In a recently released video of what the developers are dubbing as “Manga Mode,” Tokyo Warfare will receive a new feature for the game that changes the graphics style of the game into one reminiscent of traditional black and white printed manga.

In the above video, Square Enix demonstrates the latest version of this new Manga Mode gameplay. In it, players will receive an authentic, manga-inspired experience with a black and white filter, on-screen sound effects, over-the-top zoom effects, and more. It comes as no surprise that the game is including this feature, especially since the game is so heavily inspired by Japanese culture compared to its predecessor.

While this feature will not necessarily appeal to players who are simply looking forward to some traditional, arcade-style, tank-to-tank action, many are excited to see this. I know it is nothing more than a filter put over the regular game, but it adds a certain flare that is not seen in many other titles. The only one that comes to mind is Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure: All-Star Battle, but even that game did not go to the lengths of adding the level of detail that Tokyo Warfare is going to recreate a manga experience.

What do you guys think about the new Manga Mode addition to Tokyo Warfare? Are there any features of this mode that you would like to see removed or added? Leave your thoughts and ideas in the comments section below!
