It was rumored and confirmed recently that the Gold Super Mario Amiibo would be a Wal-Mart exclusive amiibo because you know that Nintendo has handled the whole amiibo situation perfectly (sarcasm). It will be available for the usual amiibo price of about 12 bucks, if you can get your hands on one.
The Gold Mario went presale/preorder today and here’s a shock, sold out in about 15 minutes. Stop me if you’ve heard that one before where someone from Nintendo went onsale and sold out in about 10 minutes. Like so many before me, I missed out on the Gold Mario amiibo since I was at my full time job during the day. I also hesitated and the first rule of Amiibo Hunting for all the aspiring kids out there, and you know who you are, is to not hesitate!
Gold Mario amiibo have started to spring up on eBay, which isn’t a real shock, either at a crazy amount, also not a real shocker. Nintendo has to get the Amiibo situation under control and try and do something to stop these scalpers from stocking up on product and mark up the price. Some stores have limited the number/copies of an item you can buy and it will be interesting to see in the future, if Amiibo and other Nintendo products become common-place like they’re intended to be!
