German Wii U owners are in for a treat as Amazon Germany reveals a Mario Kart 8 exclusive steelbook edition. The steelbook version sells for 69.99 Euros (or around $97.50 US), which is about 10 Euros more than the standard edition. It’s a small price to pay, though, considering how great it looks.

Personally, I’ve loved steelbooks ever since I got the gorgeous Metroid Prime Trilogy version. They’re never covered in stickers and it gives you that added feeling of security that your game is protected. Honestly, I don’t know if they actually do more to protect your game, but hey, they look really good on a shelf. It’s awesome to see Mario Kart get the steelbook treatment, but a word of warning to my German gaming friends: do not, under any circumstances, let anyone borrow your steelbook with your game. You may never see it again. I’ll miss you Metroid Prime.

There’s no word if the Mario Kart 8 steelbook will make its way stateside, but we can always hope. Mario Kart 8 will be bringing the blue sparks to America and Europe on May 30th.
