Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor Will Lose Nemesis Forge, More Next Month

Warner Bros' acclaimed Middle-earth game will lose online functionality at the end of the year.

PlayStation Plus subscribers might be getting Middle-Earth: Shadow of War as part of this month’s games lineup, but it seems Warner Bros are calling time on its predecessor and will be removing a few key components.

Released back in 2014 to critical acclaim, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will lose its online features as of December 31, 2020, a move affecting all editions of the game.

Details of the affected features were shared on Shadow of Mordor’s Steam page, which confirmed the news via this message:

Note: certain features for the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor videogame will no longer be available beginning Dec. 31, 2020.

Affected Features:
• The Nemesis Forge feature will no longer be available. Therefore, players will no longer be able to transfer their in-game Nemeses from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor to Middle-earth: Shadow of War.
• Vendetta missions and Leaderboards will no longer be available.
• WBPlay will no longer be available, but the epic runes “Orc Hunter” and “Gravewalker” will automatically be awarded to all players.

As a single-player experience, the base game remains completely playable but it’s still disappointing to see these features disappear, even if they’re only minor. Shadow of War remains unaffected for now, but stay tuned to GameSkinny for any further updates.
