Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak’s Fifth Title Update Includes Story Conclusion, New Monsters

Players will finally see the end of Monster Hunter Rise's storyline when Title Update Five launches this week.

Capcom held a small presentation for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak today to detail “Title Update Five.” Being hailed as the end of the game’s main storyline, this newest update will not only pack story missions but some new monsters and a plethora of unlockable costumes from event quests.

The main attraction here is the introduction of Amatsu to the monster roster. Originally created for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, Amatsu seems to be placed as the final monster responsible for Rise’s calamity. You can see glimpses of it in the trailer, but the official description from Capcom states that Amatsu is known as the “Looming Calamity.”

The second new monster is a variant of Shagaru Magala known as Risen Shagaru Magala. The biggest difference from its regular variant is that Risen Shagaru is not afflicted with Qurio, so they are able to better control when they poison players. They are also said to be much stronger, so this is sure to be a solid test for players.

The rest of the update introduces new levels for Anomaly Research Quest, which can now be taken to Level 300. You’ll also be able to undertake Special Investigations once you max out an Anomaly Research Quest, though the reward for finishing these is simply a Badge of Heroes that can be applied to your title card. Lastly, there will be a plethora of paid DLC in the form of new stickers, hairstyles, and layered armor pieces.

This won’t be the final update for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, however. While Title Update Five will conclude the game’s story, a bonus update is coming in June that will bring the final monster addition to the game. Capcom is also teasing some new +4 level jewels.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch. Title Update Five will be available starting April 20, 2023.
