“Need For Speed” hails the return of the underground racing game

By the powers of the Need For Speed franchise combined, this racing-game-reboot is set to be the best one yet.

Over the past several years, games in EA’s Need for Speed franchise has been somewhat experimental in nature, varying in theme from one installment to the next. A teaser released last month led many to expect the next entry in the series to return to the illegal street-racing theme of Need for Speed: Underground. Today’s reveal (above) not only meets those expectations, but greatly surpasses them.

Simply titled Need for Speed, the next entry in the series is set as a full reboot of the franchise, combining the best elements of its predecessors in pursuit of the purest Need for Speed experience possible.

Ghost Games’ Executive Producer Marcus Nillson boasts that Need for Speed will have the customization of Underground, the world of Carbon, the innovation of Rivals, and the narrative of Most Wanted.
