New League of Legends Cinematic Will Blow You Away!

New cinematic from League of Legends is movie quality.

Riot Games released this brand new CGI cinematic for League of Legends. This weekend marks the LCS All-Stars tournament for the eSport. Riot is obviously making an effort to use the event as a big advertising push.

This whole cinematic looks amazing, check it out in the video above!

The cinematic pits old favorites against each other in heated one on one battles. It shows how some of these classic fights might play out if League of Legends allowed for such intricate moves.

In a post on the League of Legends website, developers had this to say:

The fascinating thing about working in a cinematic format is that it allows us to get up close and personal with our champions without the constraints of the frenetic, action-packed, moment-to-moment gameplay of League of Legends.  Realizing the champions in such high fidelity challenges us in different ways, and when it all comes together the result is really powerful.  Team members across the company pitched in to make sure we stayed true to the game’s iconic personalities.  You might even notice a cameo by one of your favorite skins, or a nightmarish interpretation of Baron Nashor.  From Annie’s bear, Tibbers, to Garen’s trademark spin, you’ll see how some League classics became fully-realized in CG.

Fiddlesticks (the scarecrow) faces off against Twisted Fate (the cardmaster). Ryze (the blue mage) against Noctourne (the living nightare). Finally, Katarina (the blade fighter) fights against Garen (spin to win), a fight which transitions to including Tryndamere (other dude with a huge sword) and Annie (the dark child and her bear, Tibbers). Of course the mid-map boss, the Baron Nashor, also makes a grand appearance at the end of the video.

Why is Baron suddenly so terrifying in this cinematic? I don’t know, but the Baron looks amazing. In game, Baron is pretty tame and dopey looking – it (he?) even gets a Santa Claus hat during the winter months. Here, Baron is some sort of giant Zerg nydus-worm abomination from Starcraft 2.

With a cinematic this good, will Riot Games try to make a League of Legends movie? I can only hope.
