With its soon approaching release date of September 1st, Warner Bros. released a new trailer from developer Avalanche Studios’, Mad Max, showcasing the game’s StrongholdsStrongholds are similar to the fort-conquering gameplay mechanic of Far Cry except each base houses a mini-boss similar to Shadow of Mordor.

The trailer features the usual gaggle of strange characters, orange-tinted desert wasteland, and, of course, the insane vehicles synonymous with the film franchise:

Judging from the trailer, the gameplay focuses heavily on vehicular combat reminiscent to the recently released Batman: Arkham Knight also published by Warner Bros. Hopefully, the vehicular combat in Mad Max will be an improvement over the awkward Batmobile controls.

Mad Max was originally slated for a 2014 release, but suffered from a long delay along with the cancellation of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. Despite its delay, Avalanche Studios seems to have captured the atmosphere of George Miller’s dystopian universe. Although it is not directly based on the recent film, the shots of the bright red and yellow flares in the dusty desert sky and the crazy, pasty warboys take inspiration from the recent Mad Max: Fury Road.

Bonus points for Avalanche Studios if they include the guy with the flaming guitar.

Mad Max will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Don’t walk away.
