Pikmin fans waited a long time to get a new entry to the series, and it’s on its way. There’s a new Pikmin 3 trailer up on YouTube that you may want to watch to put some more fuel in your hype train. Maybe.

The trailer was shown during a Nintendo Direct presentation on upcoming games. Now put that hype train in neutral, because we have a problem.

Pikmin 3, along with Animal Crossing: New Leaf, is going to be pushed back to Q2 of 2013 according to Nintendo Europe’s president Satoru Shibata. Both delays are more than a little disappointing.

Consider checking out the Nintendo Direct presentation to see what’s to come on the Wii U and 3DS. The first half of the video mostly covers games that have already been released, but the second half gets to some of the meaty bits we’re getting later on.

Despite this being a European trailer and a presentation directed at a European audience, the release dates for Pikmin 3 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf are going to be very much the same or similar here in North America. Maybe it would be a better idea to put the hype train in park for a while.
