Telltale Games has decided to take a little break from the zombie apocalypse and shift over to the Fables universe.

After the huge success of Telltale’s The Walking Dead series, they have decided to start a tale in the widely popular comic book series Fables. Walking Dead fans don’t need to get your panties in a bunch because Telltale is still working on season 2 with plans to release by the end of 2013. The Fables title has been delayed several times due to the studio trying to produce the best game they can, and personally I am grateful they are taking their time to make it great.

The Story

The new title from the Fables universe will be called The Wolf Among Us, and will center around Bigby Wolf (A.K.A. the Big Bad Wolf) a chain-smoking werewolf sheriff of a town full of storybook characters trying to hide from humans. A moral choice system will decide if you give in to the wolf and let everything fall apart, or be the good guy and protect the fables from humans. The Fables comics feature various characters from popular fairy tales and folklore who have been forced out of their land after the Adversary conquers it. Forced to come to our land the fables hide out in New York City in a place called Fabletown, where they have to hide from or blend in with the mundies (Humans).

Overall

Fans of the comic series like myself should be overjoyed to see this title become a game. If you haven’t heard of Fables before I suggest you go check out the comic series, it has a wonderful and engaging storyline. Telltale has episode 1 of this title set to be released in the 3rd quarter of 2013 for Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and the PC. After their amazing job on The Walking Dead I will be pre-ordering this one as soon as I can.
